Turkey wins the IAGTO award
Turkey and especially its golf capital, Belek, won this prestigious award from IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) for the best golf destination in Europe, 2008.
With 8 golf complexes already open and 3 more due this year it would take almost 3 weeks to play every combination of 18 holes. This is due to many of the complexes having 27 or 36 holes and one even has 45 holes.
All the courses are excellent, both in design and maintenance and the choices are suitable for all levels of golfer from beginner to professional. In 2007 The PGA European Seniors Tour was played in Belek and in May 2008 the Ladies European Tour will hold one of their tournaments here.
Famous designers of the courses include Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie and such is the level of quality the likes of Ian Woosnam have enjoyed playing here.
With its Mediterranean climate and the frequency of flights to Antalya Airport, Belek is rapidly becoming the destination of choice for golfers from all over Europe.
As one major Spanish overseas property marketing company commented ? Belek is without doubt the new Costa del Sol, at a fraction of the price. The hotels are superb and the standard of property here is at least equal to what we currently sell in Spain.
